In a proactive step towards enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of crucial federal agencies, President Bola Tinubu has taken decisive action by relieving two Chief Executive Officers of their duties. This move is part of the administration’s ongoing commitment to restructure essential institutions, protect the rights of Nigerian consumers, and establish a solid foundation for increased contributions to the nation’s economy.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), issued a statement on Monday in Abuja, conveying the administration’s dedication to these strategic changes.
The affected executives are:
1. Mr. Babatunde Irukera: Former EVC/CEO, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC)
2. Mr. Alexander Ayoola Okoh: Former Director-General/CEO, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE)
Both dismissed Chief Executives have been directed to ensure a smooth transition by facilitating the handover process to the next most senior officer within their respective agencies. This interim arrangement will remain in effect until new Chief Executive Officers are appointed.
President Tinubu’s directive, effective immediately, underscores the urgency and swift implementation of this decision, reflecting the administration’s commitment to a dynamic and responsive governance approach.
