In a landmark development today, the Ogun State House of Assembly officially swore in Hon. Olakunle Sobukanla (APC-Ikenne) as a distinguished member of the 10th Assembly. This follows the recent decision by the Court of Appeal to nullify the election of Babajide Owoduni from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
During a solemn plenary session at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Hon. Olakunle Sobukanla took the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance, administered by the Deputy Clerk, Mrs Funmilayo Adeyemi.
The Court of Appeal, in a judgment rendered last November in Lagos, annulled the election of Babajide Owoduni and duly declared Hon. Olakunle Sobukanla, a prominent member of the 9th legislature, as the rightful representative.
In extending congratulations on behalf of the legislative body, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oluomo, welcomed Hon. Olakunle Sobukanla back to the House of Assembly.
Expressing his gratitude, Sobukanla stated, “I am elated and very happy to be back to where I belong. My constituency should expect quality representation as usual. I thank Gov. Dapo Abiodun for his unwavering support.”
The Ogun State House of Assembly remains committed to upholding democratic principles and ensuring that the voice of the people is duly represented.
