As Muslims across the nation gear up to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, extends heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah and assures the public of robust security arrangements.
In a press release issued by the Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on April 8, 2024, the IGP reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens during the festive period. With heightened alertness among operatives, Commissioners of Police (CPs), Tactical Commanders, and supervisory Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) have been instructed to intensify security measures nationwide.
Critical locations such as Eid Prayer Grounds and recreational centers will witness thorough deployment of officers and resources to instill confidence among citizens. Additionally, proactive measures including rigorous stop-and-search procedures, raids on identified black spots, and other anti-crime strategies will be implemented to maintain peace and ensure public safety throughout the country.
Emphasizing the importance of professionalism, the IGP urged deployed personnel to remain vigilant and respect citizens’ rights while carrying out their duties. He also urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activities.
