The Womiloju family of Ogere Remo is in mourning following the demise of their esteemed matriarch, Mrs. Caroline Ebunoluwa Womiloju. The revered educationist and community leader peacefully transitioned on Thursday, January 11, 2024, after battling an illness.
Born in December 1944 in Itapa Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria, to the family of Bishop and Mrs. Michael Ajayi Jawolusi, Mrs. Womiloju was wedded to the late Arole Kankanbiina Royal Family of Ogere Remo, Very Rev (Sir) Frederick Oyenuga Womiloju (KCW), a distinguished educationist and Methodist clergy native to Ogere Remo.
Throughout her illustrious career, Mrs. Womiloju, a holder of the Modern School Certificate, Grade II Teachers Certificate, and an Associate Certificate in Education from the University of Lagos, served as a dedicated teacher in various towns in Oyo and Ogun States. She retired in the year 2000 as a Headmistress I.
A devout Christian, Mrs. Womiloju was a Lay Preacher of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, and held significant roles in various church organizations. Until her passing, she served as the President of Christian Ladies League, Ogere; Adviser to Christian Association of Nigeria, Ogere; Adviser to Boys Brigade, Methodist Church Nigeria, Ogere; and Patroness of Ladies and Girls Fellowship, Methodist Church Nigeria, Ogere.
The late Mrs. Womiloju also held esteemed positions such as President, Women’s Fellowship, Methodist Church Nigeria, Agbowa, Sagamu Circuit, and received recognition for her contributions, including the Susan Wesley Award and Achiever’s Award from the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Ogere Remo, and Diocesan Women’s Fellowship, respectively.
Beyond her religious contributions, Mrs. Womiloju was a notable socialite, serving as the President of the Ladies Clusters Club of Sagamu. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and community impact.
Mrs. Caroline Ebunoluwa Womiloju is survived by numerous children and grandchildren. Details regarding her burial arrangements will be communicated by the family at a later date.
