Airtel Nigeria, a leading telecommunications company, is addressing the recent fire incident at a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) located in Abaranje Lagos that services its network. Femi Adeniran, Director of Corporate Communications & CSR, provided insights into the company’s response and future actions.
“We are aware of the recent fire incident at our Base Transceiver Station in Abaranje Lagos,” stated Femi Adeniran. “Upon learning of the incident, we immediately engaged with the third-party company responsible for managing the site to obtain a comprehensive briefing on the remote and immediate cause of the event.”
Adeniran emphasized that while the BTS premises contain equipment owned by Airtel, the management and maintenance of the facility have been handled by third-party partners since Airtel divested from direct tower management five years ago.
“As we continue to evaluate the situation, our primary concern is the safety and well-being of the community members impacted by this unfortunate accident,” Adeniran added. “We extend our deepest sympathies to those affected.”
