Tayo Mabeweje, Ijebu Ode –
The Ijebu Congress mourns the untimely passing of Bamofin Abimbola Ogunbanjo, an exceptional leader and pillar of our community. With heavy hearts, we reflect on the profound impact of his contributions to both Ijebuland and the Nigerian business landscape.
Abimbola Ogunbanjo, former Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), distinguished himself as a visionary with a remarkable legal background, having obtained degrees from the University of Lagos and the esteemed London School of Economics. His instrumental role in the demutualization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) from 2021-2022 exemplified his dedication and foresight.
Tragically, Abimbola Ogunbanjo’s life was cut short in a helicopter crash in the United States of America, alongside Herbert Wigwe, former Chairman of Access Holdings Ltd, his wife, and son. This loss reverberates deeply within our community, leaving us with a profound sense of sorrow.
Prince Bunmi Mebude, Chairman of the Ijebu Congress, extends heartfelt condolences to the entire Ijebu community, particularly to Oba Adebayo Okubena, the Elerunwon of Erunwon-Ijebu, and the grieving Ogunbanjo family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.
“We share in their sorrow and pray that the Almighty grants Abimbola Ogunbanjo eternal rest,” expressed Prince Mebude.
Though Abimbola Ogunbanjo may no longer walk among us, his legacy of integrity, resilience, and leadership will forever inspire us. Let us honor his memory by continuing his pursuit of excellence and service to others.
In solidarity, the Ijebu Congress stands ready to provide support and solace to all those affected by this profound loss.
