Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his inauguration speech on May 29, 2023 announced the REMOVAL OF SUBSIDY ON PMS, which has generated mixed reactions from the general public.
In other to cushion the adverse effects of the subsidy removal, which has outlived it’s essence and purpose, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo has put in place several interventions in order to bring succour to the most affected persons in Ifelodun LCDA.
The interventions of the Okeowo Administration which cuts across different sectors, is geared towards improving the quality of life of our people.
PROVISION OF STAPLE FOOD FOR VULNERABLE AND NEEDY RESIDENTS: The Local Government authority has made provision for the distribution of 5000 packs of staple food items to vulnerable and needy households within the LCDA.
EDUCATION: In the quest to bring relieve to the people, the Local Government will be providing free school uniform, School Bags, Exercise Books, etcetera to pupils of Public Primary School in Ifelodun LCDA upon resumption of the new academic session in September. In addition to this, we shall be given out 500 GCE forms to indigent students residing in Ifelodun LCDA.
HEALTH: Health they say is wealth. In view of this, the Local Government have decided to launch a free Child and Maternal Health Care, Medical Check- Ups and Free Drugs in all our PHCs. In addition to this, we have procured an ambulance to enable us run 24 hours services at our Amukoko PHC.
STAFF WELFARE: In recognition and appreciation of the roles of Ifelodun workforce to the implementation of Government policies and programme, The Local Government have increased the number of vehicles conveying the staff from 1 to 3. The additional fleets had enabled them to cater for employees plying Badagry, Ikorodu, Epe and Oshodi axis.
SUPPORT FOR MSMEs: Ifelodun Local Government understands the place of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises to Economic Growth and Development, hence their resolve to give a Monthly Cash Grant of #50,000 to 40 MSMEs and Start Ups.
COMMUNITY TRANSPORTATION: In order to ease the cost of transportation on all the routes in the LCDA, They are currently holding talks with EXCOs of Transport Union on how to subsidize transport fares.
While Ifelodun Local Government remain committed to improving the socio-economic well being of the people, we are sure that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.
