Comr. OLUMIDE Oluwasogo suggest alternative options to President Tinubu on distribution of Fuel Subsidy removal funds to Nigerians.
While appreciating the thoughtfulness of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed TINUBU for distributing ₦500 Billion part of the recovery fund from the Fuel Subsidy that commenced some weeks ago to the Nigerians.
Following the method of distribution been proposed by the Presidency “₦8,000 for 6 months for 12million household” this is not a bad idea from the Presidency.
However here are some few suggestions as to how the said funds can get to almost all Nigerians;
- First consider the proposal 300% of the increment in the minimum wages of Workers. By this if not all government employees some reasonable number have dependants hence the increment will be felt by some Nigerians.
- If one is considered to compliment the efforts of the state governments some millions of naira can also be given to them monthly as support so that they can also implement for their workers because the moment Federal workers starts getting the minimum wage state workers will also agitate for increment at state level.
- Introduction of subsidiced Mass transit by the Federal government in 774 local government the proceeds of will be used to maintain and sustain the operations. This will also create jobs in disguise.
- The Presidency can also look at the option subsidicing Electricity tariff for Nigerians maybe some token thousand of naira on monthly/every recharge particularly to customers with Prepaid meters.
- Support the Electricity company to ensure that there’s power supply to both Urbans and Rural ereas of Nigeria if not 24/7 at least for reasons hours this will affect particularly the Enterprenuers positively and encourage more to spring up hence providing more jobs.
While appreciating His Excellency President Bola Ahmed TINUBU and his team to restore Nigeria.
I pray that you explore a better option of ensuring that the fuel Subsidy removal effect is felt by Nigerians at large.
