The Honourable representing Offin, the Sagamu 1 State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Omooba Damilare Muhammad Bello has come to the aid of his constituents.
For the parents and teachers of the Local Government School, Sabo, Sagamu in Ogun State, the atmosphere under which their children and pupils learn is most unbefitting of a government school that is aspiring to raise smart and future leaders of the state and Nigeria at large, as lament over the conditions of the school structures which are in a dilapidated state.
Omooba said ” We got a call from the school staff on the regular security breach and vandalisation of the school facilities, Honourable Damilare Muhammad Bello said.
The school, which counts it populations in about hundreds of pupils, has most of its roof blown off and its fence in ruins.
The Eaglesforesight gathered that the one-storey building and the extension had not been renovated since they were constructed.
One of the teachers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said efforts to get the government to renovate the school had not yielded any fruitful result.
The teacher said, “The situation of things right now is that there is no roof covering some parts of the school building. We have abandoned classes on the first floor and we are managing with only few classroom; we always move the pupils elsewhere whenever it rains.
We visited promptly and it was reported that waste picker kept invading the school to steal all irons in the school, Hon. Dre.
“To know how dangerous the situation is, the soakaway cover was left open and the iron used has been carted away.
The windows and burglaries also has been removed by waste picker.
Honourable Dre had promised an immediate intervention of the government. While waiting, “I will personally take the responsibility of topping the school fence with one block and a cover the soakaway on a safety note for the pupils”.
