In response to the escalating security challenges within the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has announced the imposition of a 24-hour curfew, effective immediately.
According to a press statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Gyang Bere, this decision stems from extensive consultations with relevant security agencies. The primary objective is to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the affected area.
During the curfew, citizens, particularly residents of Mangu, are urged to adhere strictly to the sit-at-home directive. Only individuals involved in essential duties will be permitted to move within the local government area until further notice.
Governor Mutfwang expressed concern over the persistent efforts of some individuals to instigate insecurity despite the government’s ongoing initiatives to combat the activities of terrorist elements. He conveyed condolences to the families of victims and the injured, assuring them of the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving lasting peace in the state.
The governor pledged to review the curfew as soon as the security situation shows signs of improvement in the locality.
