In Ogun State today, roads are no longer just physical paths—they are lifelines of commerce, veins of opportunity, and the visible handwriting of a government committed to legacy. Governor Dapo Abiodun understands this deeply. As Chief Obafemi Awolowo once remarked, “A government that cannot provide good roads is not ready for the responsibility of development,” and in alignment with that philosophy, the current administration has made infrastructure a top priority.
Governor Abiodun’s most recent intervention in the Ijebu-Ode axis is a vivid reaffirmation of this belief. On June 5, 2025, he commissioned the reconstructed Awokoya–Igbeba–Yidi Road, a stretch once riddled with floodwater and frustration, now reborn as a durable and dignified carriageway. This road, which binds together communities like Igbeba, Yidi, and Idofoyin, was once a scar in the city’s geography—today, it is a smooth ribbon of progress rolled out under the watch of a listening government.
The Governor revealed that 22 road projects have been awarded in Ijebu-Ode since 2019—16 completed, 6 ongoing. The transformation of Awokoya–Yidi isn’t just about laying asphalt; it is about restoring dignity, unlocking commerce, and breathing ease into daily commutes. It is in moments like these that one remembers the words of Chief Awolowo: “When the roads are good, education is possible, health becomes reachable, and prosperity has a path to walk on.”
Governor Abiodun’s calm resolve reflects this timeless truth. His administration has constructed and rehabilitated over 1,200km of roads statewide. These projects, executed in both urban and rural settings, are not mere political tokens—they are foundations of a modern Ogun. According to Chief Olusegun Osoba, “You can make promises with words, but roads are promises cast in stone. They cannot be denied or hidden—they are the loudest testimony of leadership.”
This testimony is loudest in communities like Ifo, where the Ojodu–Abiodun–Denro–Ishasi–Akute Road now pulses with traffic and opportunity, and in Yewa South, where the Oke-Erinja–Ilobi Road has rekindled rural commerce. In Ijebu North-East, roads like Molusi College Road and the Atan–Erunwon Road stretch across once-forgotten lands like arteries of new life.
Each of these roads forms part of a grander vision—one that sees Ogun as more than a state, but a strategic frontier. With construction ongoing on the Sango–Ijoko–Akute, Alagbole–Akute, and Agbara–Atan–Lusada corridors, Governor Abiodun is planting stakes into the soil of economic relevance. These roads aren’t just for driving—they are for drawing in industry, decongesting Lagos, and rerouting prosperity into Ogun’s industrial heartlands.
Closer to home in Ijebu-Ode, other projects such as the Oba Erinwole Dual Carriageway and the continuation of Molusi College Road are rewriting the urban narrative. Roads are opening up landlocked communities, reducing travel time, and catalyzing new development. As Chief Awolowo said, “A nation that cannot connect its people cannot connect its potential.” The Abiodun administration is clearly connecting both.
And the benefits are not abstract—they are real and rippling. From easier access to markets to the rising property values in serviced areas, from construction jobs to revived local economies, the ripple effect of each completed road is felt in homes, wallets, and dreams.
Governor Abiodun has reaffirmed his commitment: no zone left behind. From the dusty outskirts to the bustling centers, Ogun’s new roads are more than infrastructure—they are the veins of a future envisioned and steadily being realized. As Chief Osoba aptly observed, “Roads may wear out, but the memory of the leader who built them never fades.”
In Ogun today, that memory is being forged in stone, in asphalt, in bridges, and in dust turned smooth. Governor Abiodun isn’t just fixing roads—he is laying down the very grammar of legacy, one kilometre at a time.

While the headline “Over 1,200km of Roads and Counting” is quite impressive and speaks to a commendable effort by the PDA administration, it’s important for transparency and accountability to clarify a crucial detail:
How many kilometers of these 1,200km were actually constructed in Remoland (i.e., across Sagamu, Ikenne, and Remo North LGAs)?
This question is not rooted in partisanship, but in the principle of equitable development.
It is important for the people of Remo Federal Constituency to know:
1. Which roads were built in Remoland? And where?
2. What are their lengths?
3. How do these projects compare with other zones?
Holding our leaders accountable isn’t opposition. It is a democratic right.
