In a heartwarming venture through his educational roots, Hon. Owolabi Jamiu Falana, Permanent Board Member of LASUBEB, embarked on the 16th day of the #100SchoolsVisit initiative. The journey, primarily through Mushin, unfolded as a nostalgic and impactful experience for the esteemed board member.

The tour included visits to numerous schools, each holding a significant place in Hon. Falana’s past and contributing to the rich tapestry of education in Mushin. Notable stops encompassed institutions such as New City Primary School (his alma mater), Itire-Ikate Pry School, Community Pry School, Onipede Pry School, Eleja Pry School, Dosumu Pry School, Eleja Home Economics Center, Itire Pry School, Itire Road Primary School, A U.D Pry School, Itire Home Economics Center, Itire Computer Center, Palm Avenue Pry School, St. Martin’s Pry School, Ojuwoye Public Pry School, Adeleye Pry School, Ojuwoye Community Pry School, and Inclusive Unit Adeleye Home Economics Centre.

The day was filled with special moments for Falana. Returning to New City Primary School after many years brought back waves of nostalgia. “Standing on the familiar assembly ground, the waves of nostalgia were undeniable,” he wrote. “It was my first time back since leaving primary school, and the potential inherent in that space was vivid.” Reflecting on his own journey, Falana saw the promise in each pupil, ready to be molded into greatness.

The #100SchoolsVisit is not just about reminiscing for Falana. He also used the opportunity to engage with school staff and administrators on how to improve the quality of education. He observed teaching styles, conducted on-the-spot assessments, and shared books with pupils, made possible by the generous donations of his former classmates.

Falana expressed his gratitude to the leadership and staff of the visited schools; the supporting organizations – Schools Online, Lagferry, LTV, Radio Lagos, and TVC; the Board of SUBEB, and the dedicated team at the BEQA Department for the success of the initiative.

Commending the impactful work of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the education sector, Falana urged all stakeholders to maintain high standards, emphasizing that the future of the nation’s children depends on it.

“As these pupils reap the dividends, I urge all stakeholders in the educational sector to maintain high standards and not rest on their laurels. The future of our children depends on it,” Falana concluded.
