The State Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogun State chapter, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe on Thursday, 27th July, 2023 presided over the 26th regular State Executive Council (SEC) meeting under the 9th State executive of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogun State chapter at the Ogun Youth House, MKO Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta where issues bothering on Youth developments in the State were discussed and various executive committees handling different assignments submitted their reports for consideration.
Thereafter, the Chairman presided over the third quarter State Management committee meeting (comprising of the State executive, Local government Coordinators, Head of State-wide Affiliate Youth Organizations, and invited Stakeholders) at Wing D, MKO Stadium, Abeokuta. Exercising its constitutional powers, The meeting constituted the State Elective Congress Planning and Electoral committee, chose October 28th for the Elective Congress, and received some of its committee reports with other important State matters. The meeting also observed a minute silence in the honour of the Former Chief of General Staff/ Vice President of Nigeria and Patron of the State Youth Council, Lt. Gen Oladipupo Diya (Rtd) who passed on 26th March 2023.
In their separate goodwill messages, Member National Advisory Council and Former National Financial Secretary, Com. (Ms) Yinka Odutayo, Former State Chairman, Com. (Prince) Adeleke Adebajo, and Former State Deputy Chairman, Com. Azeez Adegbite appreciates Com. Ayelaagbe leadership for its dedication, selfless services, and inspirational leadership to the emancipation of the youth constituency that gives the youth constituency the indispensable voice in Ogun State and trotting the Youth Council and by extension the Ogun State youth constituency to an enviable height among the comity of State Youth Councils in the Country and beyond. While noting that the history of the Youth Council will write Ayelaagbe and his team’s name in gold, they implored the aspirants not to see their co-contestant as an arch enemy, to be civil in their campaigns, discusses issues, those innovations they are coming up with and not attack one another’s personalities, among many others.
In his concluding remarks, the State Chairman, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe on behalf of his team expresses appreciation to the stakeholders for the motivating encomium on the ninth leadership, said: “ If our administration and leadership has been so outstanding, remarkable and satisfactory as portrayed from several remarks at the meeting and from reputable leaders that have communicated so at different fora, it is as a result of the support of officers at all levels and continuous guidance of the stakeholders”. The Chairman declared that contrary to some speculations, he will not be seeking another term of office as State Chairman “The Constitution of the Youth Council allows for officers to run for a second term in office but I will not be seeking another term in office”. The Chairman counsels the aspirants to “play by the rules and not break the cordial relationship and friendly atmosphere existing among stakeholders and structures of the Council in the State because of personal ambition” he reminded them that the Constitution frowns at pernicious behavior by officers or intending officers and as such, the state leadership will not tolerate such acts from any aspirants. He concluded by charging youth leaders from different communities and local governments across the State to be more patriotic in the service of the State, his words “the future of Ogun State rests on us as a youth, we should continue to be our best in all our undertakings, do our utmost best to make our communities, organizations, towns, local government, and the State much better, be an ambassador of Ogun State anywhere we found ourselves and continue to support the government at all levels in their efforts to make the State and Country much better for us and toed the line of peace and peaceful coexistence, always”.
The meeting concluded with a special welcome for the State Chairman, Com. Ayelaagbe from the Holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, who in turn led a special prayer for members and our dear State.
