In continuation of efforts at providing effective representation and making the youth voice heard, the State Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogun State chapter, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe on Wednesday, 19th July 2023 led eminent stakeholders of the youth constituency to join other critical stakeholders to participate in the Nigeria Customs Service Command and Staff College Gwagwalada Junior Course 16 Community interactive session held at the Palace of Onipokia of Ipokia, Ipokia-Yewa.
The Community interactive session of the Nigerian Customs Command and Staff College, according to the leader of the delegation, Comptroller Adebakin, AO is designed for officers undergoing training at the College to have first-hand information on the Management of Border communities to improve customs operations, practical understudying the border communities as part of trainee research exercise and engagement that in-turn help their future endeavors as organization Management officers in waiting.
In his remarks, the Ogun State youth 001, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe and other stakeholders noted with dismay that some officers and Men of the Nigeria Customs have not represented the Service appropriately in the border communities as they continued to be a curse rather than a blessing to the host communities with Indiscriminate killings of our youth through sporadic shootings in the community, Noncompliance with rules of engagement, limiting the proliferation of units leading to officers/Men misbehaving on the street, Improper dressing, all of which discourage people from doing legitimate business, among many others. Stakeholders in unison charged the Customs hierarchy to Discontinue the 20km ban on petrol as it is no longer logical; Training, and retraining of officers and Men, Regular interaction with the stakeholders, and consideration of host communities in employment of its personnel and community development projects, among many others.
Responding, Comptroller Adebakin apologizes on behalf of the Service for whatever wrongdoings of Men/officers of the service and reassures of improved service delivery.
