The 10th State Executive Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, on April 20, 2024 hosted ninety resourceful young Leaders of Ogun State as newly appointed members of its nineteen Directorates.
The event held at the VIP Lounge of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta was organized as an Inaugural Meeting and Orientation Programme for the Directorates of the Youth Council, which are saddled with the responsibility of engaging with relevant Stakeholders on some thematic areas of the society at the overall interest of the youth constituency.
Addressing the gathering in his opening remark, the youth Chairman for Ogun State, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi, congratulated all members of the Directorates on their recommendation, selection and emergence as the drivers of the five focal areas of the working document of his administration — the Progressive Pentagon.
Olóyè, who read out the Terms of References to each members of the Directorates charged them to see their appointments as call to service, and as avenue to contribute their quota to the development of the youth constituency of Ogun State.
In an earlier announcement of the Heads of the Directorates on January 29, 2024, the State Deputy—Chairman of the Youth Council, Com. Adejoke Adeoye, revealed some appointed young persons as Dr. Kola Mustapha as the Director of Health, Com. Tosin Adesile of the Youth Network on HIV/AIDS (NYNETHA) as Director of Education and Training, Com. Iyanu Sonde—Ikokoh of the Nigerian Girls Guide Association as Director of Gender and Girl Child Empowerment, Com. Adedeji Ajibade of Imeko Afon Local Government as the Director of Project Monitoring, Com. Moses Awonaya of Ijebu East Local Government as Director of Employment and Job Creation, Commandant John T Taiwo of the Man O’ War Nigeria as Director of Security Intelligence and Safety Matters.
Other appointees included Surv. Oluwaseun Adebesin of the African Lads and Lasses Brigade as Director of Environment, Housing and Ecology; Com. Omotara Nurudeen as the Director for People with Disabilities, Com. Yaya Onagbesan as Director of Arts, Culture and Tourism among others.
The business of the day also included Presentation of Appointment Letters and Office Tools, Lecture on Acts of Volunteering, Idealization.
