Workers under the aegis of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigera (PASAN), Ogun State Chapter has commended the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the partial implementation of the Consolidated Legislative Salary Scale (CONLESS) for members of staff in the State Legislature.
This was just as the Union demanded full compliance with the provisions of the Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission Law, 2018 and Statutory Office (State Emolument) Amendment 2018, to give due renumeration to the three ranking administrative heads of the State Legislative institution.
The Union in an appreciation letter to the Governor jointly signed by the Chairman, Ayotunde Ojediran and Secretary, Adedigba David, noted that the implementation of CONLESS, “demonstrates the present administration’s commitment to recognizing the invaluable contributions of the legislative workforce and lays the foundation for improved service delivery within the State Legislative institution”
“The step signifies a significant milestone in our collective pursuit of excellence in Your Excellency’s resolve to provide fair and competitive compensation; you have acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the staffers, which will motivate us to redouble our individual and collective efforts at contributing to the Building our Future Together Agenda for the benefit of the State and its people”, the letter partly reads.
Hoping for an improvement of the State finances in the nearest future, the union expressed optimism that the full-implementation of the Salary scale which would place it members at par in other States would be considered.
“Your Excellency Sir, while we shall continue to express our heartfelt gratitude for this timely gesture; we also humbly request that the same gracious consideration be given to our second demand within record time of the suspension of the industrial action.
Sir, the appropriate remuneration of the Clerk, Deputy Clerk, and the Executive Secretary of the House of Assembly Service Commission deserves a due recognition of your esteemed Office. As top Legislative Officers, their present status reflects the future aspirations of the entire workforce”
“We are again thankful in earnest that Your Excellency shall graciously demonstrate your fatherly dispostion to the Legislative workforce regarding the second request in due course, as it will further solidify the present administration’s devotion to recognizing and supporting all levels of our legislative staff”
