Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, chaired by Hon. Jemili Akingbade, has commended Yewa North Local Government Council for maintaining regular Finance and General Purpose Committee (FG&PC) meetings and adhering to swift project implementation and completion timelines, describing the steps as an effective means towards the delivery of the dividends of democracy to grassroots.
Hon. Akingbade, accompanied by other members of the Committee including Honourables Wahab Haruna, Adegoke Adeyanju, Olakunle Sobunkola, Oluseun Adesanya, Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye, Yusuf Sherrif, Damilola Soneye, Dickson Awolaja, Babatunde Tella, and Folawewo Salami, emphasized the importance of mutual working by career officers in supporting the council leadership to avoid pitfalls and enhance the quality of service delivery and project execution.
The Committee Chairman further urged the council to continue aligning its developmental initiatives with the needs of the people, ensuring transparency and accountability in all its operations.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of the Government Council, Dr. Olusola Akinbode appreciated the lawmakers for the oversight visits, describing it as a vital mechanism for promoting good governance.
He expressed acknowledged the House Committee’s efforts in ensuring that local government councils remain accountable and pledged his administration’s commitment to sustaining effective governance practices at the grassroot level.
