The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ijebu North Local Branch organized a day seminar for Schools in Ijebu North on the Effect of Hard Drugs and Indecent Dressing among Secondary School students.
The program was aimed at sentizing the younger ones on the menace of taking hard drugs and also dressing indecently.
There were two speakers who did justice to the topics; Comrade Adedigba Shittu and Comrade Marayesa Ayokunle.
Comrade Ogunleye Ismail,the council’s Coordinator in his remarks thanked the almighty God for making it possible. He also appreciated the schools,students and teachers for honouring the invitation of the council. He further noted the need why such awareness his very important among the teens and young adults as our society is fast growing in these social vices which are becoming burden on the peaceful coexistence of the people.
In another remark of the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Mr. ‘Bolaji Odusanya appreciated the organizers of the program noting the need while the seminar is important. The awareness is prompt has the little ones would be caught very young rather than periods they might have been exposed to many things through peer group influences and other means.
The State Chairman of the council, His Youthfulness, Comrade Ayelaagbe Abduljabaar also thanked the sponsor of the event,Senator Olalekan Mustapha who has been a lover of youth from time immemorial. He equally commended the youth Council,Ijebu North Branch for their selfless efforts in positioning the council well.
He further noted that the effect of the seminar will go a long way if the students can utilize the opportunity by doing the right and also not deviating from the core purpose of existence and become the pride and good ambassadors of their respective home.
There was Scrabble and Chess competition among the invited schools. The competition was aimed at introducing such games to schools in order to create avenue for students to key to the positive effect of the games and equally take it as opportunity to develop their intelligence.
Schools present were Golden Star Comprehensive College, Tender Soul Comprehensive College, Bil-Qalm Model College, Beje Model College, Mercy Model Schools, Methodist Comprehensive High School (Mission).
Others are Amazing Grace College, Achievers Model College,Happy Hope School, Prime Rose Comprehensive College, Sure Success Group of School, Dan Dorcas Group of School
Other invited guests are Comrade Dotun Opaleye,NYCN Ogun East Senatorial Chairman,Comrade Ilori Aderemi,State Financial Secretary,Comrade Adeola Akinyemi, Ogun East Organizing Secretary, Dr Oladunjoye Rasheed,Director,Directorate of Education,NYCN, Ogun State, Coach Talabi, OOU Sports Department.
The sponsor of the program in person of Senator Olalekan Mustapha was ably represented by the duo of Hon. Shina Bello and Hon. Sulaiman Alebiosu.
