Naira and Fuel Scarcity: CP Frank Mba Conveys Peace Talks With Ogun Youth Leadership, Calls For Alternative To Protest

Less than forty-eight hours on resumption of duty as the new Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, the former Force Police Relations Officer, Frank Mba, conveyed a peace meeting with the leadership of Ogun State Youth Council over the proposed protest on fuel and naira scarcity. The meeting held at the Police Headquarters on Friday, February 10, 2023, as gathered, was in line with Mba’s strategic effort and appeal for a peaceful and effective alternative towards averting breakdown of law and order considering the already tensed economy.
In a previous memo earlier released by the state chapter of the Youth Council on Wednesday, February 8 2023, and made available to newsmen at Ogun Youth House, the youth leadership called for calm. In the memo, the State Chairman of the Youth Council, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe, appealed to fellow youths to remain civil and democratic at this period, as Ogun State is known as a home of astute thinkers who should not be lured for political and pecuniary gains.
According to the memo, the youth leadership noted that heating the polity will only make life more miserable for everyone with an assurance to continue engage both State and non-State Actors in the best approaches to implement policies that will not bring untoward hardship to the citizens.
However, in a twist of fate, the youth leadership received a directive from its national headquarters on Thursday February 9, 2023, requesting the youths of Ogun State to join a nationwide protest without delay.
The Commissioner of Police, while addressing the State Youth Leaders, appealed for a stand down on the protest to observe the result of the ongoing intervention of the State Government. While expressing concern on the proposed protest being the reception for his arrival to the State, Mba assured the youth leadership of an uncompromised and fruitful relationship during his service to the State.
The meeting had in attendance the Commissioner for Police, CP Frank Mba; the Deputy Commissioner for Police on Administrative Duties, DCP Abiodun Alamutu; the OC of the State Investigation Bureau, CSP Oluwatoyin Kazeem; the State Chairman of the Youth Council, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe; the State Vice-Chairman of the Youth Council for Ogun West Senatorial District, Com. Tajhdeen Adeleye; and the State Secretary of the Youth Council, Oloye Akolawole Shoremi.
