Hon. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Antie, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, announced updates on the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme through her X (formerly, Twitter) handle @DrDorisAntie yesterday, June 27, 2024.
The minister reassured applicants who have yet to receive their grants, acknowledging their patience and confirming that the disbursement process is ongoing. “We have allocated about 60% of the 1 million grants,” she stated. Applicants can track the disbursement progress on the official grant website.
With nearly 4 million Nigerians applying for the ₦50,000 palliative grant, only 1 million beneficiaries can be accommodated. The selection process is randomized to ensure fairness, as not all applicants can receive the grant. While future social intervention programs may be launched, there are no immediate plans at this time.
Uzoka-Antie highlighted the efforts of her team and the Bank of Industry (BOI) in ensuring a fair and accurate disbursement process. Delays have occurred due to the need to clean up incorrect, duplicate, and spurious applications to ensure eligibility and validation. Testimonial videos demonstrating the positive impact of the grant are being shared, with more to come.
In addition, the vetting process for MSME and Manufacturing loans is in its final stages, with disbursements expected to begin by the end of July. Applications for these loans remain open.
The minister emphasized the importance of constructive criticism from citizens while urging against abuse and bigotry. She reminded applicants that personal insults and hate speech will not be tolerated and will not aid their applications.
“Together, we can build a more prosperous Nigeria,” Uzoka-Antie concluded, thanking the public once again for their patience and cooperation.
