The General Manager of Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency Prince (Dr)
Ifalade Oyekan has declared that a lot can be done to further secure the State’s waterways, revealing that the agency will work closely with Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA to complement the efforts of other security agencies currently providing security on Lagos waterways.
Oyekan disclosed this when he recieved the General Manager of the Lagos State
Water ways Authority, Mr Oluwadamilola Emmanuel who paid a courtesy visit to
the agency at the safety arena complex Bolade, Oshodi.
Oyekan who described the partnership between LNSAand LASWA as a welcome
development further decried the rate of atrocities being perpetrated on Lagos
waterways like Crude oil stealing, drug peddling, kidnapping among other vices.
In his words, Oyekan said: “The coming of LASWA at this critical time is a welcome development. Just like LASWA, LAMATA had equally requested for this kind of collaboration from this agency. LAMATA wants LNSC officers to be on board their bus and train services to provide security for the passengers.”
The General Manager also said that a lot can be done with the partnership with
LASWA in the area of intelligence gathering by LNSA and it will go a long way
in strengthening the security situation on the waterways.
Oyekan thanked the LASWA GM and his team for the visit and assured the visitors of the Agency’s support. He stated that the agency is enjoying the support and cooperation of the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, hence the successes being recorded by the officers.
Earlier, the GM of LASWA Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel commended the General Manager of LNSA for the ongoing rebranding of the agency, maintaining that
safety and security is very key to the socio economic development of the state.
He further disclosed that he believes greatly in collaboration saying that partnering with LNSA will be beneficial in the area of intelligence gathering, investigation and mitigation.
Speaking further, the LASWA GM, informed about the existence of waterways Corps and other security operatives on the waterways but the efforts of LNSC on
jetties and on boats to monitor activities on the water ways will go a long way in securing the waterways.
Prince Ifalade assured that the waterways will be safer with the approval of the newly established LNSA marine corps of the Lagos StateNeighbourhood Safety Agency, while thanking the Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his vision and magnanimity towards the LNSA.
