It is no longer news that OOUTH Nurses have been made to suffer physically and psychologically traumatized for more than a decade.
The former management team had inflicted pains and suffering on Nurses by ensuring that they were stagnated for years. They were denied promotion and other deserved benefits, they were short staffed and as such being made to overwork and yet underpaid.
OOUTH was the worst nightmare of Nurses in Ogun State as it is believed that being employed there as at that time was the worst punishment from God.
The only person who was unlawfully promoted thrice became the Ag. DNS because her boyfriend was the CMD.
She made life unbearable as lots of younger Nurses fled OOUTH to take up private hospital jobs in Lagos.
Nurses were being victimized and made to undergo episodes of Psychological trauma.
I received lots of complaints from OOUTH by younger Nurses on daily basis as at then, many of them begged me to help them with job advertisements of private hospitals in Lagos.
But yesterday, a junior colleague called to tell me that there is A New Dawn in OOUTH. I couldn’t believe my ears until I did a background check.
35 Nurses who are still in active service were promoted to the post of ADNS (Assistant Director of Nursing Services) and 3 retired Nurses were who were also victims of stagnation were called for the interview, they passed and got promoted to the post of ADNS too.
Such a good thing has never happened to Nurses in OOUTH for more than a decade!
I want to sincerely appreciate the board, the leadership of Nursing services (Ag. DNS).
I have always believed in the leadership qualities of the new Ag. DNS and I respect her level of Intelligence and Intellectual capacity.
I have not spoken with her for a while now but I get in touch with other Nurses frequently especially the lower cadres because I believe they are the only ones that can commend good work.
I hope she’ll be made the substantive DNS so as to do more for the Nursing community.
Let the cap be worn by the one whom it fits.
I say congratulations to the newly promoted Nurses as OOUTH is on the verge of towing the path of restoration of its old glory and even more!
