The Lagos State Government has unveiled a new online platform, the Lagos Revenue Portal (LRP), designed to streamline non-tax payments. Abdul-Kabir Ogungbo, Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, announced the launch at a press briefing at Revenue House in Alausa, Ikeja on Thursday.
Ogungbo explained that the LRP aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda, which focuses on enhancing the quality of life for Lagosians. The platform modernizes revenue management by offering a self-service portal that consolidates various payment processes for residents and businesses.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will launch the revenue portal on Thursday, August 15, 2024. The LRP will streamline payment procedures by merging bills and payments from multiple Ministries, Departments, and Agencies into a single online platform. Users will be able to manage, print, and pay their bills using credit/debit cards, bank transfers, POS, USSD, and QR codes, all from their homes or offices. This system reduces the need for physical visits to service stations and banks, saving time and minimizing inconvenience.
Ogungbo noted, “The LRP ensures secure and efficient payment processing. It provides instant receipts for successful transactions and includes a validation system to verify the authenticity of receipts, protecting against errors and fraud. The portal also supports easy registration for both individuals and businesses and offers functionalities for payment amendments and reversals to quickly address any issues.”
“Another significant feature of the LRP is its comprehensive payment history view, which allows users to access and download their transaction records. The portal is accessible via both web and mobile applications, enabling on-the-go access and seamless integration with current and future technologies. This design ensures scalability, robustness, and data integrity while complying with privacy regulations.”
By centralizing revenue management, the LRP aims to simplify business operations in Lagos, improve the taxpayer experience, and enhance transparency. This initiative represents a major advancement in the state’s revenue administration, supporting the government’s goals of increased compliance and efficient service delivery.
Ogungbo concluded, “As the LRP continues to evolve, the Lagos State Government remains committed to ongoing improvements to better serve its citizens and businesses.”
