Olasunkanmi Oduntan, Ikorodu –
In celebration of International Youth Day, the Lagos East Senatorial District will host its inaugural Leadership Advocacy Program, organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter. The event, set to take place in Ijede LCDA, will be spearheaded by Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba. The choice of Ijede for this premier edition is highlighted by the district’s youngest chairman, whose impressive track record symbolizes the achievements of young leaders.
Comr. Asoro Abubakri Olatunji ACArb, Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Youth Council, emphasized that while the program will eventually tour the entire senatorial district, Ijede’s selection underscores the success story of its chairman as a source of inspiration. The initiative aims to encourage youth persistence in their aspirations and reinforce the importance of youth inclusion in governance.
The program will offer a mentorship platform for young people to engage in constructive dialogue on pressing issues and propose actionable solutions. Olatunji stressed that this initiative reflects the council’s commitment to fostering engagement over confrontation.
The event will also see the local branch of the youth council and various Volunteer Youth Organizations (VYOs) in Lagos East in attendance. Additionally, the Executive Chairman of Ijede will be honoured as the Grand Patron of the local branch.
