The Kosofe Youth Frontier (KYF), a leading coalition of progressive youth advocates across Kosofe Local Government Area, proudly announces its full support for the candidacy of Hon. Olayinka Rabiu, popularly known as Whytee, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship flagbearer for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for July 12, 2025.

Hon. Olayinka Rabiu has demonstrated over the years a consistent commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment, and community-focused governance. As a proven administrator and loyal party man, Whytee has earned the trust and admiration of Kosofe’s youth and broader populace alike. His vision aligns perfectly with KYF’s mission to build a more inclusive and accountable local government system.

The KYF recognizes that leadership at the local level requires not just popularity but also competence, accessibility, and a genuine passion for community development. Hon. Rabiu embodies all these qualities and more. His track record speaks volumes, and his inclusive style of leadership has continued to inspire hope in the democratic process.

We are, however, deeply concerned by emerging reports of attempts to impose candidates on the people of Kosofe — both for the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions — by certain elements within the party hierarchy. Such acts are undemocratic, detrimental to party cohesion, and undermine the spirit of fair competition and internal democracy which the APC upholds.

The people of Kosofe deserve the right to freely choose who represents them. The imposition of candidates not only breeds apathy but also compromises the legitimacy and credibility of our democratic institutions. As a youth-driven movement, we will resist all forms of political manipulation aimed at sidelining popular candidates.

The KYF hereby calls on the Lagos State APC leadership to respect the will of party members and ensure a transparent and credible primary process. It is only through this that the APC can retain the trust of the electorate and maintain its political dominance in Kosofe and beyond.

We urge all stakeholders, particularly party elders and leaders, to embrace a participatory process that gives room for popular candidates like Hon. Rabiu to emerge through merit and grassroots acceptance, rather than backroom decisions that often lead to voter resentment and internal crisis.

Kosofe Youth Frontier will continue to mobilize support, engage community leaders, and sensitize the youth to remain vigilant in defending their democratic rights. We remain committed to a new era of responsive, youth-inclusive governance in Kosofe under the capable leadership of Hon. Olayinka Rabiu (Whytee).
