The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced the release of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results today. JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, made the announcement during a press conference held at the board’s headquarters in Bwari.
More Females Than Males Take UTME
Over 1.9 million candidates registered for the exams, with females outnumbering males for the first time in three years. A total of 1.007 million females (50.6%) sat for the UTME compared to 982,393 males (49.4%). This represents a significant increase in female enrolment, according to Oloyede.
76% Score Below 200
While results were released for over 1.8 million candidates, only 0.4% scored above 300. A larger portion, 76% (1.1 million), scored below 200. JAMB, however, reiterated its policy of not disclosing the name of the highest scorer.
Checking Your Results
Candidates can check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the phone number they registered with. JAMB advises against visiting CBT centers or cybercafés for this purpose.
Examination Breakdown
The UTME held from April 19th to 29th across 700 centers in 118 towns nationwide. A total of 1.9 million candidates registered, with 80,810 absent from the exams.
Increased Registration for Persons with Disabilities
JAMB also highlighted a 36.2% increase in registration for Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) compared to the previous year. A total of 3,164 PLWDs participated in the 2024 UTME.
