The victory of Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, in yesterday’s governorship election in the state, has been hailed by the Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The minister, who congratulated Uzodimma on his victory, declared that the people of Imo have just signed for another round of massive development.
It will be recalled that the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for Saturday’s off-cycle election in Imo State, Professor Abayomi Fasina, on Monday morning, declared Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election after pulling 540,308 votes.
Uzoka-Anite, in a statement by her media adviser, Oladapo Sofowora, said Governor Uzodimma’s resounding and convincing victory is a huge one for all Imolite and it will rejig the commitment of Uzodimma’s Administration towards the development of the state.
According to her, the governor’s re-election is a reflection of the good job he has done since his administration came on board in January 2020.
She said, “I want to congratulate Governor Hope Uzodimma on his victory at the just concluded pools. Imolites have sent him back to Douglas House to serve them for another four years, and I am quite sure that the mandate given to him will be to the best advantage of all Imolites.
“This victory will mark the beginning of another round of development within the state. Imolites should rest assured that Governor Uzodimma will complete all existing projects and embark on new ones that will benefit all and sundry. He will also bring all the dividends of democracy to the people.
“I also want to congratulate all Ndi Imo for shunning every form of violence and coming out to vote massively for Governor Uzodimma. We have set a precedent as a peaceful state by resisting all forms of intimidation and violence to freely perform our civic duty while delivering all 27 local governments for him and the All Progressives Congress APC.”
The Minister who is currently on official assignment for the country in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the Saudi-Africa Summit, also promised that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will further deepen its commitment and quest to attract more life-changing projects to Imo state.
She further disclosed that Imo State will be opened for more employment through job creation via industrialization and also foreign direct investment, which is why President Tinubu is in Saudi Arabia to woo investors to invest in many sectors of the economy.
“We are currently in Saudi Arabia to ensure we sell Nigeria to foreign investors to ensure more jobs and prosperity and with Governor Uzodimma’s emergence, we are very sure Imo State will benefit when our trip to Saudi starts materializing.
“Once again, I congratulate him on this resounding victory and I know all he has promised Imolites in his campaign manifesto he will fulfil without stress and I am ready to join hands with him to ensure Imolites and other Nigerians move on the path of prosperity”, she added.
