The media team of Hon. Olayinka Rabiu (popularly known as Whytee), a leading chairmanship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe Local Government Area, strongly condemns the recent acts of political violence and destruction of campaign materials allegedly carried out by individuals affiliated with the incumbent Chairman, Hon. Moyo Ogunlewe.
On Thursday, May 1st, 2025, one Segun Aye, a known associate of the incumbent, was reportedly seen vandalizing a campaign billboard of Hon. Olayinka Rabiu (Whytee) at Ayinde Junction in Ojota. On the same day, Segun Aye and an unidentified accomplice destroyed and carted away another large campaign banner near Total Filling Station in Ojota. Eyewitnesses also reported physical assaults on individuals installing the banners, resulting in injuries.
This follows a disturbing pattern of repeated incidents, including the removal of Hon. Whytee’s banner at Ojota Bus Stop by alleged political thugs, and the earlier destruction of his billboard at Ifako —acts also believed to be perpetrated by individuals loyal to the incumbent administration.
Hon. Olayinka Rabiu and his campaign team are law-abiding citizens committed to a peaceful, issue-based election. We vehemently denounce these acts of political intimidation and thuggery that aim to suppress the voice of the people and undermine democratic processes in Kosofe.
We call on Hon. Moyo Ogunlewe to caution his supporters and demonstrate leadership by allowing free, fair, and non-violent political competition. If the incumbent has truly served the people of Kosofe well, he should have no reason to fear an open electoral contest.
The good people of Kosofe deserve a peaceful and secure environment to engage in the democratic process. We urge the Lagos State Police Command and relevant law enforcement agencies to act swiftly, ensuring the protection of lives, properties, and campaign materials, and to investigate and prosecute all involved in these heinous acts.
Our campaign remains focused on positive engagement, grassroots development, and the advancement of Kosofe. We stand resolute in our commitment to peace, justice, and democratic values.
