Delectable songstress, composer and actor, Simisola Bolatito Kosoko popularly known by her stage name, Simi, will this weekend feature on African Voices Changemakers, CNN magazine programme sponsored by telecommunications company, Globacom.
Simi will treat viewers to the story of her success in music and her staying power in a career which began in church where she released her debut studio album entitled “Ogaju” in 2008.
The 36-year-old was born in Lagos, last of four children. She came into limelight in 2014 after releasing “Tiff”, a song that was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015. She had earlier same year signed a recording contract with X3M Music, a label she quit in May 2019 consequent upon the expiration of the business agreement. Simi launched her own record label named Studio Brat in June of the same year.
She released an album after her name, “Simisola” on September 8, 2017 and another one “Omo Charlie Champagne”, Vol. 1 to coincide with her 31st birthday on April 19, 2019. The graduate of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State was one of the top judges in Season 7 of the Nigerian idol TV show in 2022.
Married to an equally accomplished musical artiste, Adekunle Gold in a private ceremony on January 9, 2019, Simi became a mother on the 30th of May 2020 with the birth of her daughter, Adejare.
African Voices Changemakers will be broadcast on Saturday at 8.30 a.m. with repeats on Saturday at noon; Sunday at 4.30 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. On Monday next week, another repeat will be aired at 4.00 a.m., Saturday at 8.30 a.m. and 12 noon and Sunday at 7.00 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.
