In an official statement released on Sunday, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced that Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9th and 10th, 2024, have been declared public holidays by the Federal Government of Nigeria to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The declaration comes following the successful completion of the fasting period in the holy month of Ramadan. The Minister extended congratulations to all Muslims, urging them to embody the values of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
In his message, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of unity among Nigerians to foster peace and harmony within the nation. He extended warm wishes to the Muslim community for a joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration, praying for the continued blessings and favor of Allah upon everyone and the nation at large.
