Sup. Evang. Kayode Ajala, M.P.I.C –
A High Court sitting in Rivers State has cleared all Celestial Church of Christ parishes to start operating their various accounts in seven Nigerian banks.
In a statement issued by the head of media and publicity to EMF Oshoffa, Sup. Evang. Kayode Ajala MPIC, on Tuesday, he noted that, the Rivers State High Court had restrained CCC Parishes from operating their accounts in the following banks: Zenith Bank, UBA, GTB, Access Bank, Polaris Bank, Keystone Bank, and First Bank Plc, on Tuesday 1st November, 2022.
The restriction reportedly followed the granting of a Garnishee Order by the court last year.
However, the restriction was lifted after the Garnishee Order was vacated by the same court following concerted efforts made by the CCC legal team.
According to Ajala, the restriction hasn’t been lifted for CCC Port Harcourt Parish 1, as the case has been adjourned to Thursday, 9th March, 2023, for the determination of the order brought on the Parish.
Read full statement below;
“The Garnishee Order granted in the High Court of Rivers State of Nigeria, restraining parishes of the Celestial Church of Christ from operating existing accounts in the under listed banks, has been vacated. The banks are:
-Zenith Bank Plc
-United Bank for Africa Plc
-Guaranty Trust Bank Plc
-Access Bank Plc
-Polaris Bank of Nigeria Plc
-Keystone Bank Plc
-First Bank Plc
“Recall that the Garnishee Order on all C.C.C. parishes was granted on Tuesday, 1st November, 2022. That Order has been vacated by the same Court, except on Celestial Church of Christ, Port Harcourt Parish 1. The case has been adjourned to Thursday, 9th March, 2023, for the determination of the order on C.C.C. Parish 1, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
“What this means in effect is that all parishes of the C.C.C. that have been restrained from operating their accounts in the listed banks can now begin to operate such accounts.
“We commend the efforts of Superior Evangelist Obafemi Adewale (SAN), Superior Evangelist Akinyele Sanyaolu and all other members of the church’s legal team for a job well done.
“Together, we move to higher glory.”
