NYCN Ikorodu North LCDA broke the Internet when the news of its new office complex reached the youth space, it’s the first to get such a gigantic building as office in the history of the state, the local branch now intends to convert it to a facility that will engineer innovations and provides skills to young people in Ikorodu North, it intends to call it a youth hub. Ikorodu North like any other local branch is deserving of this office due to the numerous responsibilities and activities, of such in the last hundred days is Skill acquisition on Solar Panel to commemorate World Youth Skill Day, World Advocacy Conference Against Violent Protest, Clean Up of lucky fibre and courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman to clamour for youth inclusion which has reflected in the presentation of office. Hon Adeola Banjo; Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North, has set an example that young people must be provided a place to provide a seamless leadership for themselves. It’s on this note that Ikorodu North earned the title – the big bull.
Similar to this is the Executive Chairman of Ijede who hosted the first Senatorial District program in the hundred days under review, during this session Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo -Alogba shared how being a young person has helped her change the fortune of Ijede LCDA for better. She also promised a new office and utility vehicle for our branch in Ijede. The local branch has also prioritized security by engaging officers of Area N police command.

One of the Voluntary Youth Organisations; HUVACOD did the district proud when it Skill Training program earned an award as the best in Lagos East, during the World Skills Day Challenge where 15 local branches 2 VYOs participated form the district. Participants learnt Shoe making and lots more.
As a senatorial district, the leadership remains committed to providing a direction and sense of commitment to humanitarian causes and development of young people by providing a clear cut sense of direction and ensuring that the activities of the local branches and VYOs under its supervision is geared towards this. Even as the Lagos East Meet and Greet 1.0 was launched in Ijede to commemorate the Int’l Youth Day, the district aim is to tour the sixteen LGs/LCDAs in the zone to further get young people intimated of the developments been undertook by the administrators and to further clamour for youth inclusivity.
Also, in the year under review, the Bariga Local branch was inaugurated and has continued to provide purposeful leadership to young people in Bariga. While it work to bring all it eggs to one basket, it’s unfortunate that Somolu gets engulfed in leadership scuffles, and the district leadership is working to bring parties together, in the main time, no leadership structure is currently recognized. In a bid to unite all youth stakeholders, the senatorial district has also engaged all members of Lagos Youth Parliament of Lagos East extraction, creating lasting bonds and providing purposeful leadership.

In the years to come, expectations remain high and the senatorial district alongside its affiliates has shown commitment to continue to propagate and emphasize youth inclusivity and participatory community and youth development, at least that can be seen in the last hundred days has seen in all our episodes till this last one.
