In a shocking turn of events, a Bet Naija attendant, Bojuwoye Adetola, and her accomplice, Bunmi Dada, have been arraigned by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly conspiring and stealing a staggering sum of N16.7 million from a customer, Lukman Issa. The incident reportedly occurred at their outlet in the Iddo area of Lagos State.
According to police prosecutor James Okosun, the defendants, along with others still at large, committed the offence between September 12 and 24, 2023. The charges against them include conspiracy and stealing, contravening Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
Mr. Issa, who won N16.7 million after playing 36 games, was left empty-handed despite repeated attempts to collect his winnings. He recounted his ordeal, stating that Adetola, the Bet Naija attendant, continually postponed payment and eventually failed to deliver any funds.
“I noticed she had been taking the money bit by bit and had planned with her friends to finish the money and not give me any dime,” Mr. Issa lamented.
Despite pleading not guilty, the defendants were granted bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two responsible sureties. The case has been adjourned until March 4, 2024, leaving Mr. Issa and others affected by this alleged betrayal awaiting justice.
