Former Senator representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), throwing his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Murray-Bruce, who made the announcement on his verified X handle on Wednesday, said his decision was driven by what he described as the President’s bold economic and structural reforms.
“I have known President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu since 1998. I know the man’s mind, his courage, and his conviction,” the former senator said. “He is not driven by applause, he is driven by results. And today, I can boldly say to you that he is on the right track.”
The businessman and media mogul praised Tinubu’s handling of the economy, national security, and infrastructure, stating that reforms currently being implemented are necessary for long-term growth.
“For the first time in our nation’s history, we have a President who truly understands finance… The painful reforms we face today are the very foundation of tomorrow’s prosperity,” he added.
Murray-Bruce said the administration’s efforts are already yielding results, with increased investor confidence, a professionally managed Central Bank, and renewed infrastructure development nationwide.
He stressed that his defection to the APC was not for political gain, but out of a commitment to national progress.
“I am joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), not for politics, but for progress,” he said. “I choose to stand with reform. I choose to stand with the future.”
Murray-Bruce served in the Senate from 2015 to 2019 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His switch to the APC comes amid ongoing political realignments across the country.
