Audit Reports: Ogun Assembly Summons Access Bank Manager, Reviews Financial Records of Five LGs

Ogun State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption, chaired by Hon. Damilare Bello, has continued its consideration of the 2023 Auditor-General’s Report on Local Governments, with an invitation to the Management of Access Bank, Oke-Ilewo Branch, alongside some micro finance banks and individuals in respect of wrong deductions from the Odoogbolu Local Government Council’s Bank account in September and October, 2022 which was repaid last year without corresponding interest.

The Committee Chairman, represented by his Vice Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, in company of his co-lawmakers including Dickson Awolaja, Folawewo Salami, Adeyanju Adegoke, Oluseun Adesanya, Lukmon Atobatele, Babatunde Tella and Yusuf Amosun, issued the invitation, while considering the report on Odoogbolu Local Government Council led by its Chairman Dr. Babatunde Diya at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Committee directed the management of the bank to appear with the Head of Local Government Administration and Treasurer, as well as the recipients of the said funds, to provide explanations on the transactions.

Considering the Audit report on Obafemi-Owode Local Government Council, the House Committee issued another invitation to one Mr. Akeem Gbelekale and Mr. Oguntoyinbo to also appear before it on Tuesday, 26th August 2025, by 2:00pm, over the allegation of sales of parcels of land at Opako Adigbe and other locations belonging to the Local Government which was originally leased for farming purposes.

Other Local Government Councils that appeared before the Committee included Ipokia Local Government chaired by Mr. Johnson Avoseh, Ifo Local Government led by its Chairman, Mr. Idris Kushimo, his Ijebu North- East Local Government counterpart, Mr. Foluso Badejo, and that of Obafemi Owode Local Government chaired by Mr. Adesina Ogunsola, represented by the Head of Local Government Administration, Ms. Funke Adeniji.

The Committee directed the managements of the councils to submit their fixed asset registers to the Assembly Complex by Friday afternoon.
