The men of the Nigeria Police Force have made the first arrest in the ongoing investigation concerning the case of Arson and Homicide at the Celestial Church of Christ, Overcomers Parish. Oke-Ira Nla, Ajah, Lagos.
Recall that the Parish was razed to the ground by an irate mob after extensive looting of electronics, musical equipment, personal effects and also the cow tied down in the premises which was meant to be slaughtered for the Juvenile Harvest Celebration of the C.C.C. Overcomers Parish.
A Labourer contracted to evacuate the soak-away pit in the church premises, Dogo, had drowned while carrying out the assignment. The Assistant Shepherd of the Parish who attempted to rescue the Labourer also sustained severe injuries and lies critically ill at the hospital till this moment.
In the course of the attack, the angry mob, armed with matchets and cudgels, descended on the Shepherd in Charge of the Parish, VSE Aso James and the Secretary of the Parish, beat them blue black and left them for dead. Both men lie critically ill and injured at the hospital.
A suspect involved in stealing the Juvenile Harvest cow in the razed church premises has been arrested and is presently helping the Police with the ongoing investigation.
