The Ogun State Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe has enjoined the youth of Ogun State to always work together for enabling peace and development of Nigeria, adding that Armed Forces Remembrance Day must be a constant reminder of the great sacrifices of our gallant fallen heroes and ex-Servicemen made to ensure unity of our great Country.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the wreath-laying ceremony in commemoration of 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at Arcade Ground, Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ayelaagbe urged Ogun youth “to continue to demonstrate discipline, hard work, integrity, forthrightness, hospitality, and unity of purpose that has become the hallmark of the youth of this State and eschew religious bigotry, ethnicity and all forms of divisive tendencies capable of threatening to enable peace enjoyed in our State in honor of the sacrifices of our fallen heroes and heroines”.
The Chairman urged the youth to always show love to families left behind by fallen heroes and charged government at all levels to prioritize the welfare of families left behind by the fallen heroes as obtained in other climes to serve as means of comfort for the families left behind that the Nation their father, mother, Sisters or brothers served till death is a Nation that cares.
The Chairman prayed for the safe return of those on various battlefields, the repose of the souls of departed heroes as well as comfort to the families they left behind.
While remembering those we have lost to the cold hands of death in active Service, Ayelaagbe urged the youth of Ogun State and the general public to continuously show love and pray every day for the serving Men and Officers of both Military and Paramilitary formations who are always keeping vigil while a large percentage of countrymen and women are asleep, serving in various forest to ensure that we have to enable peace as a Nation. “It is important for us as young people to always show love to seeing officers and Men of the Nigerian Military and Paramilitary agencies who are keeping vigil for us and ensuring that we have a secured Nation through their services in many different forest across our land. The love should not only be on this day alone but on every other days. Showing love to them and collaborating to send criminals away from our land will guarantee more secured spaces for all of us”.
He enjoined government at all level to continue implementing policies and programmes that will promote Justice, Security, equity and peaceful co-existence of Nigerians, irrespective of their religions, tribes or political associations.
