Contrary to media reports, Fidelity Bank Plc has clarified that its Managing Director, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, is not involved in the ongoing legal proceedings concerning alleged fraud on the account of Woobs Resources.
A report published by Sahara Reporters on June 25 suggested that Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe was a named party in the fraud case. However, official documents seen by this publication, including a charge sheet dated May 12, 2025, confirm that the individuals listed as defendants are Victor Ukutt, Esq., Fidelity Bank Plc, Whoba Ugwunna Ogo, and Safiya Whoba. Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe’s name does not appear on the charge sheet.
Further clarifying the situation, the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice issued a press statement on June 9, 2025, affirming that Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe had been removed from the case. The statement explained that she was neither the account officer nor the Managing Director at the time the account in question was opened, and thus had no involvement in the transactions under scrutiny.
Fidelity Bank has reiterated its commitment to full cooperation with relevant authorities and expressed confidence in the judicial process.
