Ogun Assembly Speaker Tasks Lawmakers to Carry Out Oversight on Constituency Projects

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has called on his fellow lawmakers to carry out oversight on their constituency projects to ensure that contractors deliver them in line with the required standards outlined in the project documentation.
Rt. Hon. Elemide, who made the call during plenary, clarified that funds for constituency projects are paid directly to the contractors, and it is the responsibility of each lawmaker to monitor the execution process to ensure compliance with established standards and due process as specified during the bidding by the various contractors across all State Constituencies.
He thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun for approving the constituency project funds, explaining that the funds were disbursed directly to the contractors for the execution of various projects across the State Constituencies.
In the same vein, the Speaker challenged the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, to expedite work on roads recently damaged by rainfall in some parts of the State.
He issued the challenge while responding to a submission by the Minority Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, who reported that recent rainfall had severely damaged the road linking Ososa Junction–Itanrin–Sabo Molode. He emphasized the need for immediate government intervention due to the heavy human and vehicular traffic involving school children and residents in the affected areas.
Commending the government’s efforts in infrastructural development across the State, the Speaker urged the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to implement more palliative measures to alleviate the hardship faced by road users in the affected areas.
Earlier, while speaking under Matters of Urgent Public Importance, Hon. Adeleye lamented the damage caused by the recent downpour, describing the affected road as critical to both his Odogbolu State Constituency and the Ijebu-Ode State Constituency.
